"True victory is victory over oneself " - Morihei Ueshiba
What is Aikido?
Aikido is a Japanese Martial Art created by Morihei Ueshiba in the early 1930s. It is a combination of elements of Jujutsu (locks and throwing techniques) and other various sword and weapons training systems from traditional Japanese martial arts. This includes, sensitive observation of balance, intention, momentum and energy in attempts to neutralise all forms of conflict.
Wellbeing is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, and Aikido practice offers an nurturing, supportive environment were you are able to develop and grow; TAUK dojos will provide you with encouragement, education, and emotional support through the collaborative learning process.
Aikido 'toughens the body and polishes the spirit'.
We aim to promote and encourage the practice of Iwama Takemusu Aikido across the UK, establishing it as a practical, viable system of self defence, as well as a vehicle for physical, mental and emotional well-being and development.
